Please reply.

As a guest, one of the first things you have to do is to confirm your attendances. Hosts put a lot of thought on their guest list that is why it is only fair to let them know whether you are coming or not.

RSVP two days after receiving an invitation in order for your host to have an accurate headcount of all guests and help make party planning a whole lot easier for them.

Prepare.

After confirming your attendance, you need to do some planning on your end. Find out whether there is a dress code you need to follow and make an effort to find something to bring to the party – your host will love you for it!

If cooking is not really their thing, you can never go wrong with wine and sweet treats.

Don't be late.

This is not to say you should arrive on right on the dot but it is important to not let your host wait up for you. Make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the specified time on the invitation.

If you are going to be significantly late, let your hosts know beforehand so they wont have to wait up for you and just catch up when you arrive.

Greet everyone.

Make sure to find the hosts of the party once you arrive and greet them (bearing gifts!). Courteously greet everyone you bump into and engage in light conversations as you go.

Be a helping hand.

Just because you are guest doesn't mean your hosts have to wait on you hand and foot. Offer your assistance to the host on the menial party tasks and be prepared to insist if you can clearly see that they are struggling. Your hosts will never forget you for this.

Expand your social circle.

Not all of us are comfortable in social a gathering that is why it is important to step up and make sure everyone is having fun. If you spot someone who is sitting alone, muster up some courage and engage in a conversation with them – this is a great opportunity for you to gain new friends.

Slow down on the food and drinks.

Do not go ham on the party platter or the drinks. Enjoy the feast in moderation to make sure there is enough for everybody and be very careful with your alcohol intake – no one wants to take care of a drunk and obnoxious guest.

Exit gracefully.

When it is time to leave, make sure to thank your hosts for their hospitality and gauge the right time to make your exit. Do not leave without saying a word to everybody and risk them thinking you got kidnapped in the middle of the party.

It is also great if you can give your hosts a call or drop them a message the next day and thank them for a wonderful night.

These are everything you need to know to become the perfect guest this holiday season. Remember to have fun and cherish the time you get to spend with friends and loved ones. Cheers!
