FIRST-PARTY DATA SNAPSHOT

Florida Outdoor Furniture Buyer Data: What 4,871 Customer Contacts Told Us

We read every call, form message, and review that came our way — 436 phone calls and 1,099 form messages from January through July 9, 2026, plus 3,336 reviews going back to 2013 — and pulled out what patio-furniture buyers ask for across Florida, plus our South Carolina and Georgia showrooms. Here’s what the data says.

Sample = 4,871 classified items. Periods: calls/forms Jan 1–Jul 9, 2026; reviews Feb 11, 2013–Jul 5, 2026.

  • 20.2% of buyer contacts aren't a new-furniture sale — they're a repair, a replacement, or a part. 982 of 4,871 items
  • 39.3% of requests that name a material ask for PVC pipe furniture — a line that's just 2.4% of our catalog. 234 of the 596 material-specific items
  • 10 yrs median age of the furniture owners tell us about — and 30% report owning theirs 20+ years. 456 items that volunteered a duration
  • 13.4% of all contacts are about repairing or refurbishing furniture someone already owns. 651 of 4,871 items

How that changes by region

Each card shows the materials that cleared our reporting floor for that region (at least 5 contacts). Percentages are of that region's own material-naming contacts; a material can be missing simply because too few people named it there to report.

Only PVC pipe cleared the reporting floor here, and this region's data comes mainly from our Orange Park showroom (see the notes on how we counted).

PVC pipe leads the material-specific requests almost everywhere inland — Space Coast, Orlando, and Tampa — while the coastal and southwest regions lean toward wicker, and aluminum climbs to nearly a third of Fort Myers / Naples / Bonita requests.

The shape of 2026 so far is a spring peak: contact volume built steadily through the first quarter and crested in April, with form messages topping out at 238, before settling into a summer rhythm — still 169 form messages in June. July is a partial month (through the 9th), so its low points are expected, not a trend.

The PVC pipe gap

PVC pipe as a share of our catalog2.4%
PVC pipe as a share of material-specific requests39.3%

PVC pipe is our smallest catalog line — 11 of 465 products (2.4%) — yet it draws 39.3% of the requests that name a material (234 of 596). That gap is the clearest signal in this whole dataset: demand for PVC furniture runs well ahead of how much of it we currently list, and a good share of those contacts are people caring for older PVC pieces rather than buying new.

Only 9.4% of all contacts (456 of 4,871) mention a specific age, so this is a self-selected group — and self-reported years cluster on round numbers like 5, 10, 15, and 20, as estimates tend to. Reported durations ran from 1 to 40 years. Of the 456, most came from reviews (330), with 83 form messages and 43 phone calls.

How we put this together

What's in the sample

4,871 classified customer items, made up of:

  • 436 phone-call transcripts
  • 1,099 web-form messages
  • 3,336 customer reviews

The time periods

  • Calls & form messages: Jan 1 – Jul 9, 2026 (the only window we have this data for)
  • Reviews: Feb 11, 2013 – Jul 5, 2026 (a 13-year archive)

Where it comes from

Our own inbound records — phone calls and website form messages captured through our contact tools — plus our published customer reviews. Each item was read and sorted by an automated classifier into what the person wanted (intent), what product and material they mentioned, and which region they contacted us from. A spot-check re-read scored 24 of 25 items correct; nothing was left unclassified.

What we left out

We removed 31 items before counting: 17 sales/marketing spam submissions, 6 too-short calls, 5 off-topic text messages, and 3 of our own internal test submissions — none of those are in the 4,871. The 4,871 does include 318 reviews that were a star rating with no written comment: they count toward volume, region, and timing, but a star rating with no written text contributes nothing to product or intent categories.

How we counted regions and materials

We identified 6 regions — Tampa, Coastal SC/GA (served by our South Carolina and Georgia showrooms), Orlando, Fort Myers/Naples/Bonita, Space Coast, and Jacksonville/North FL — plus a residual "other/unknown" bucket (558 items) where we couldn't confidently place a call or form. In the region-by-material breakdown, any cell with fewer than 5 contacts is withheld and shown as "—", so no small group can be singled out. Because most contacts (87.8%) never name a material, every material percentage is a share of the 596 who did, not of all 4,871.

Two honest caveats

  • Tampa's totals lean on reviews. Most of Tampa's items are reviews tagged to our primary listing's city, not live inquiries — so please don't read Tampa's overall share as "most questions come from Tampa." Our live call and form volume actually skews toward our South Carolina and Georgia showrooms and Orlando.
  • Jacksonville reviews are really Orange Park. Our Jacksonville listing returned no reviews of its own (it was flagged as a duplicate during the data pull), so the North Florida review data reflects our Orange Park showroom.

Frequently asked questions

What is this data, and how big is it?

It's what we learned from reading 4,871 real customer contacts — 436 phone calls and 1,099 website form messages from January through July 9, 2026, plus 3,336 reviews going back to 2013. We sorted each one by what the person wanted, the product and material they mentioned, and the region they reached us from.

What do most people contact Palm Casual about?

About half of all contacts (50.0%) are shopping for something new and another 29.8% are general questions. The part that surprises people: 20.2% — one in five — is about caring for furniture someone already owns, whether that's a repair, a replacement, or a part.

Which materials do customers ask for most?

Among the 596 contacts that named a material, PVC pipe leads at 39.3%, followed by wicker / resin at 32.6%, aluminum at 14.4%, poly lumber at 10.7%, and cast aluminum at 3.0%. If you're weighing wicker options, our all-weather vs. natural wicker guide walks through the trade-offs.

Why does PVC pipe furniture stand out in the data?

Because demand runs far ahead of catalog size. PVC pipe is just 2.4% of our 465 products (11 items), yet it draws 39.3% of the material-specific requests. Much of that is people caring for older PVC pieces. You can see what we currently carry on our PVC pipe furniture page.

How long do customers say their furniture lasts?

Of the 456 people who told us how long they'd owned their furniture, the median was 10 years and 30.3% reported 20 or more years. These are self-reported figures from a self-selected group, not a durability promise — but they're a genuine reflection of what owners tell us.

Where do most inquiries come from?

Our live call and form volume skews toward our South Carolina and Georgia showrooms and Orlando. Tampa shows the largest overall share, but that's mostly because reviews are tagged to our primary listing's city — so we don't read it as "most questions come from Tampa." You can reach our teams through our Orlando and Tampa location pages.
